Takepayments Integrated

The Takepayments Integrated platform is a cloud-based payments orchestration layer that enables direct, secure communication between your point-of-sale (POS) system and payment terminals.
By integrating via a RESTful API, your application can initiate, manage, and reconcile card transactions without requiring manual input on the terminal.

When a transaction is started in your POS, the payment amount and contextual data are sent programmatically to the card machine.
The terminal handles customer interaction and payment capture, then returns the transaction result to your system in real time.
This approach removes duplicate data entry, reduces operator error, and ensures transactional consistency between the POS and the payment device.

In addition to traditional counter-top payments, the platform supports Pay At Table (PAT) flows and web-based integrations through PayPages for eCommerce use cases.
All channels are exposed through the same core API, enabling a consistent integration model across in-store, table service, and online payment experiences.

By abstracting payment terminal communication and transaction processing behind a REST API, Takepayments Integrated allows your development teams to focus on core application logic while the platform handles payment orchestration, device interactions, and compliance requirements.

On-Boarding
Pre‑Requisites
  1. Contracts Signed: Signing contracts is the first step to get access to the Takepayments Integrated API. Once contracts are signed, you will receive your API credentials and test terminals to begin integration.

Once you have signed your contract with us you will recieve your welcome email in which you will find all that you need to get started.
The email will include your API credentials (ClientId, ClientSecret, and Scope) which are necessary for authentication and making API calls.

The process after you have signed your contract is as follows:

  1. Receive API credentials via email
  2. Follow the steps in the email to set up your user account
  3. Review API documentation and integration guides
  4. Receive test terminals
  5. Integrated with the API
  6. Validate your integration with our support and development teams
  7. Go live with your integration
  8. Start processing payments
